I want to take a moment to share some operational changes to the repeater. First of all the time-out timer no longer resets after the courtesy tone. The new repeater uses the total transmitting time of the carrier, not the user. It is important to let the repeater’s carrier drop between long transmissions, not only does this allow the timer to reset it allows other users to call. Another thing you may notice is there is no longer a 2-second delay before the transmitter engages, this was removed as many users started talking before the repeater so the beginning of the conversation was cut off. I hope this clears up the recent confusion and the number of time-out events during heavy use.
