Supporting Public Service Through Amateur Radio
Amateur radio has a long tradition of serving communities through volunteer communications support during public events, charitable activities, severe weather incidents, emergency situations, and disaster response efforts. The Milwaukee Repeater Club actively encourages members to participate in public service activities that help develop operating skills while giving back to the communities we serve.
Many of these opportunities provide valuable real-world experience handling emergency-style communications, net operations, message handling, tactical communications, and teamwork under challenging conditions. Participation is often open to operators of all experience levels, making these events an excellent way to learn and grow within the hobby.
Education and Training
Continuing education is an important part of amateur radio. Throughout the year, clubs and organizations across Wisconsin offer training sessions covering a wide range of topics, including radio operation, antenna design, emergency communications, digital modes, satellite operations, repeater systems, HF communications, portable operations, and emerging technologies.
Our weekly announcements help operators discover opportunities to expand their knowledge, improve technical skills, and stay current with developments in the amateur radio community.
Community Involvement
One of the greatest strengths of amateur radio is the sense of community shared among operators. Weekly announcements help connect members with activities where they can meet fellow hams, exchange knowledge, mentor new operators, participate in operating events, and contribute to the continued growth of the hobby.
We encourage all amateur radio operators, regardless of license class, experience level, or operating interests, to become active participants in local clubs and public service activities.
