The Pink Hamsters

A Friendly Amateur Radio Gathering for Young Ladies and Friends. The Pink Hamsters is a weekly amateur radio social net hosted on the Milwaukee Repeater Club repeater system in southeastern Wisconsin. Originally established as a welcoming on-air gathering for Young Ladies (YLs) in amateur radio, the net has grown into a friendly community where operators of all experience levels can connect, share stories, and enjoy the fellowship that amateur radio provides. Whether you are a newly licensed operator, a seasoned amateur radio enthusiast, or simply checking in as a guest, you will find a warm and supportive atmosphere focused on friendship, encouragement, and the enjoyment of our hobby.

What Makes the Pink Hamsters Special?

The Pink Hamsters Net was created to encourage participation by women in amateur radio while maintaining an atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone. Although the spotlight is on YLs, all licensed operators are invited to check in and join the conversation. The net is known for:
  • Friendly and relaxed discussions
  • Encouraging new operators to get on the air
  • Supporting women in amateur radio
  • Building friendships throughout southeastern Wisconsin and beyond
  • Sharing amateur radio experiences, activities, and community events
  • Providing a comfortable environment for first-time net participants
Whether you are operating from a home station, mobile rig, handheld radio, or participating through a third-party station, you are always welcome.

New to Amateur Radio Nets?

Checking into the Pink Hamsters Net is simple. When Net Control calls for check-ins, key your microphone and provide:
  • Your callsign
  • Your first name
  • Your location (optional)
Net Control will acknowledge your call and guide you through the rest of the net. The Pink Hamsters Net is an excellent opportunity to build confidence on the air, improve operating skills, and meet fellow amateur radio operators.

Everyone Is Welcome

While the net celebrates the contributions of women in amateur radio, participation is not limited to YLs. Family members, friends, guests, and operators of all backgrounds are encouraged to join the conversation.
Our mission is simple: to promote friendship, fellowship, and fun through amateur radio.

Join Us This Friday

Tune in to 146.910 MHz (-600 kHz) with a 127.3 Hz PL tone every Friday evening at 8:00 PM Central Time and become part of one of southeastern Wisconsin’s friendliest amateur radio traditions. We look forward to hearing your callsign on the Pink Hamsters Net. 73 from the Pink Hamsters Crew!
